Cecilia- up close and in person!
I think I left off with Cecilia's birth. After the birth, Carly was fixed right up and taken to a recovery room to allow the spinal to wear off. Meanwhile, I had left Carly (as planned) to carry Cecilia down to the nursery to be with her while they did some tests and cleaned her. After about an hour in the nursery, I was allowed to go see Carly again, and to take Cecilia with me.
We spent some time in the recovery room with Carly - and it was pretty funny. Carly was still a bit out-of-whack from the spinal, so she had slurred speech and asked some ridiculous questions of the nurses. After a bit, one of the nurses asked Carly if she was ready to begin breastfeeding - so we spent about an hour working with Cecilia to get her to latch on. She was a champ! And a hungry one at that!
While all that was going on, I did take a couple breathers - enough time to move all of our stuff from the labor and delivery room to a new room where we'd be spending the next 3 1/2 days. I also sent out a quick text message to some friends and family, letting everyone know that Cecilia was out and about. And if you were one of those that got woken up by the pre- 6AM text, I hope you don't hate this - but I'm not at all sorry!
By this point, it was after 7AM on Wednesday morning! That's more than 24 hours from when Carly had gone into labor. They finally released Carly back to our room, where Carly, Katy, and I began the long next day.
The rest of the day was pretty much the same stuff - all centered around Cecilia and Carly learning how to breastfeed better, Cecilia getting additional tests, and Cecilia sleeping and pooping. I may be biased - but I think she's a total Papa's girl.
Well, I'm going to let the pictures do the rest of the talking!

Praise God!
A bit beforet 12PM, Carly was fully dilated and felt the need to push! It was about time - and we were excited to see if our child would have a 27 Nov or 28 nov birthday. Little did we know.... Carly began pushing, and our baby descended very well - for the first 20 minutes. After that, Carly pushed and pushed - changing positions, following all the advice of the five nurses and doctor in the room. But our baby just didn't want to come down any further. After an hour and a half of pushing, Carly was just spent. She had been in labor for over 20 hours at that point! At that point, we decided to continue trying - but to have the C-section operating room queued up. Carly kept alternating relaxing and pushing, and had all the hospital staff really rooting for her natural birth. But by 2 AM, it was pretty obvious that nothing was happening, and so we went ahead with the C-section.

Catching up
The World Space Expo
At the beginning of the month, Matt, Katy and I had another adventure, this time combining their love for NASA and the space program. We spent the day at the Kennedy Visitor's Center and the NASA property checking out the sights as well as the INCREDIBLE air show that they had in the afternoon. Katy and I both called our dads as we knew they would be appreciative of where we were at, as well as maybe just a little jealous. I did pretty well that day, but by the end, I was tuckered out. Matt and Katy stayed a bit later, but I went home, put my fat little feet up and had dinner ready for the three of us! It was a great time!

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Hale, as well as Aunt Deb!
The second weekend of November we had Grandma and Grandpa Hale make the trip across the state to visit, and with them was also the lovely Aunt Deb Allgood. We had a wonderful visit, spending time catching up, walking along the beach, shell collecting, having dinner at a local venue, and brunch on Sunday. The weather was beautiful and we were able to be outside for a good portion of the weekend - even enough to view a launch. We were also able to see all the pictures from Grandma and Grandpa's cruise to Italy and beyond. We were so glad to see them! The weekend ended with a trip to Bugsy's for some tasty ice cream.
A New Baby....but not ours yet!
The other couple from our childbirth class had their baby this month! Elizabeth and Jordan are the proud parents of baby Aubrie. She ended up being born about 4 weeks early, and is just the tiniest baby I think I have ever seen! She is definitely the smallest baby I have ever held! She was a mere 4 pounds and 13 ounces when she was born, and as all babies do, dropped down to about 4 1/2 pounds. She is gaining weight though, and in great health! We were so excited for our friends!
Dinners with Friends and such....
We have been spending time with friends quite a bit, having dinner get togethers, coffee (or in my case hot chocolate), and things like that. I even went to my first spouse's dinner for the 45th LCSS. I was there with the Lt. Col's wife, the DO's wife, and one other 1st Lt's wife. It was a great time at Olive Garden. Time flew by as we spent almost three hours together there! I hope we are able to get together more in the future.
The BeerFest (Oktoberfest)

Matt was very exited when he talked with our landlord and the landlord agreed that our pergola or gazebo, as some have called it, should come down. It was such an eyesore, and now that it is down, we have a much better view of our lake in back. Our friend Jordan came over to help tear the thing down. Elizabeth, Aubrie, and Elizabeth's mom and I stayed inside and watched the men with their tools tear down the vines and warping wood. After the guys were done, we all shared a nice chili dinner. The guys bottled the beer they had made about a month previous, and then before it got too late for the mommies, we called it a night.
