The Incredible Adventures of Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley is a story about a boy that gets run over by a steamroller because he couldn't run fast enough. This turns him flat, so that he can have all kind of flat adventures. Like getting mailed to different folks for vacation. Our good friend Mia Pepper and her 1st grade class read the story of Flat Stanley, except theirs was PG so he got flattened by a bulletin board falling off his wall and onto the bed while he was sleeping.

Mia mailed the Flat Stanley that she made to Carly and I for a FL adventure. Here's what he was up to while at our pad...

OK, no more flat jokes, aight?

Playing on the Back Porch

The Easter bunny brought Cecilia some sidewalk chalk this year. Who new $1 could bring so many hours of fun? And Papa also found out that chalk can stain Mir's clothes!

Coloring with Ms Jessica

To celebrate Easter, Cecilia and Ms Jessica colored a great big "Happy Easter" sign today! Check out the good coloring!

HAVE A HAPPY EASTER!!

Easter Baskets!

This morning, the girls woke up late (what...?). When the awoke, their Easter baskets were hidden! Cecilia had to do some hunting to find her basket full of goodies...

"Cecilia, where's your basket?"

"Is it in these boxes?"

"What about in your Pooh Mobile?"

Mimi's Basket!

And she's helping herself to Cecilia's too!

"Wow Cecilia, what did you get?"

"People, Mimi!"

"oh boy!"

"Momma, the Easter Bunny got me a sugar high!"

Sisters...

Grass strewn carelessly about

Chocolate! Ask how we can tell she is a Princess...

Cecilia's bunny ears.

Cecilia's Easter Basket Adventure

And in case anyone's interested, we had a little debate over Easter family traditions. The Hale family always had Easter baskets hidden when the awoke, but the Thomas's didn't do fun things like that. So Carly and I were wondering why my side of the family always did that, and I had no idea. We looked it up (Google knows all...).

Turns out that the egg is a symbol of fertility (duh!), of new life. The relation between eggs and life is why the Easter egg is a symbol of Christ's resurrection. But no one's quite sure why we hide the eggs. And many folks hide the easter baskets, others hide the eggs. There were all kinds of conjectures as to why, lots of random historical pagan and Christian facts, but no consensus... So who knows - but its fun!

Beach Trip before Easter

On the Saturday before Easter, we took a break from the preparations and hoped over to the beach. Although the water was chilly, Mir didn't mind - she had a blast in the sand!

Our oldest daughter had a hard time though, probably because she had refused to take a nap. Too much excitement with Ms. Katy staying overnight, Mr. Ney just arrived, and Ms Jessica on the way for Easter. Oh well!

After the girls got all sandy, we stripped them down and hosed them off at the beach house. Then back home! Good beach trip!

Cecilia & Miriam in the Morning!

This morning, our girls were eating some breakfast. Since Cecilia was eating from a cup in her "pink chair", we lowered Miriam's high chair so that they could eat together. Big hit.
