Christmas Decorations

When there are small children in the house, many of the traditional (breakable) Christmas decorations just don't work out that well. We decided that we valued our breakables, so this Christmas we are improvising a little bit.

Our Nativity Scene, Little People style. I LOVE this set! I am so grateful to Little People for
creating a Nativity set that the girls can look at and play with to their hearts' content.
There are shepherds, wise me, and even the inn at Bethlehem.
A great addition to any child's toy collection!

Our Christmas tree with only a few ornaments. Momma is working on making soft "pillow" ornaments as Cecilia calls them. It is taking a lot longer than I thought, so they are slow in coming. The tree still looks pretty though. Matt and Steph picked a winner last year in the day after Christmas sale! Pre-lit and everything!

The light up Church with a priest, a sister, and a Franciscan. Not sure why this combo, but that is what it came with when it was handed down to me. Note the fake snow. This is a shout out to my little grandma who always makes sure she has fake snow on her bookcase each Christmas!

Cecilia playing with the "Peoples" and Mommy not worrying about her breaking them. She even reenacted the Annunciation the other day too! So proud!

Cecilia grabbing the angel in one hand and Mary in the other.
Angel: "Hail Mary, full of grace, gonna have a baby!"
Mary: "Sounds good!"

Not sure that is the way it happened all those years ago,
but for a two year old, I thought that was pretty good!

And our Christmas stockings...including Miriam's that was finished right before Christmas.
The others were embellished with snowflakes. Just thought there was too much open space before. What do you think?

This is also our ghetto Florida "fireplace." Of course we have no chimney to hang out stockings with care, so we just used command hooks stuck to the wall. Gets the job done, right?

There are more decorations we need to get put out, but at least this is a start!

  1. Cute nativity set! We have one that the kids play with too and I would find sheep or shepherds or a donkey in random places throughout the house, but always with a friend! Ethan is obsessed with babies and would get frantic if he couldn't find Baby Jesus. I love it!
