Cecilia's Plants are Sprouting!

Spring is here! And Cecilia is definitely excited about her garden. We have tomatoes, green beans, and a bunch of flowers (lupine, allysum, four o'clocks, and marygold). They've been doing quite well - just living in our dining room, for the time being.

Pierogi & Letter from Auntie Steph!

In preparation for the Polish feast on Easter Sunday, Carly and I spent 3 1/2 hrs last night making the pierogis. Handmade are sure the best, but its a lot of work. Good thing we had some shiraz on hand!

Happy St Joseph's Day

Today was the feast of St. Joseph! So Mamma and Cecilia made a poster to celebrate. Since St Joseph is the patron of fathers, and Momma and Papa have a devotion to the Holy Family, we try to celebrate feast days that relate. Cecilia talked about her "sign for Papa" for about the next week!

Spring Planting Fun!

With spring fully upon us, we decided to undertake a little spring planting this weekend. A trip to Lowes got us everything we needed. Cecilia was a big helper, putting soil in the cups and dropping seeds into the holes. Even Miriam and Momma came out to help for a bit!

Mornings on the Porch

Now that the weather has finally tamed itself here in FL, our little Cecilia has taken up some fun new habits. She absolutely LOVES being on the back porch - and since most days the AC is off and house is open, she gets to go out a lot. One of her favorite times to go out is when she's drinking milk after waking up from the night or her nap...

Easter Egg Hunt At St. John the Evangelist

Today there was an Easter egg hunt at our Church....I was a little hesitant to let Cecilia go as I thought it would be a mad dash for candy filled eggs with big kids pushing and shoving to get as much candy as they could and push the little ones out of the way. I think it was the momma bear in me that was unsure, but I was pleasantly surprised. They had the kids separated out by ages (of course) and the eggs were not filled (of course, this is Florida) and instead they were just tossed about in the grass and landscaping for the kiddos to collect. Cecilia was one of 5 in the under 3 category and she had a ball! Mir was just a bit too little this year. Maybe next year. Although a kind senior citizen woman from the Women's Auxiliary insisted that she have a few too. So nice!

Cecilia meeting the Easter bunny for the first time. I think she was a bit scared.

Looking to mom for reassurance.

Finally, she settled with a high-five!

And snuck in a hug!

Oh look, a PINK egg! I think everything is pink these days.

And a purple one...

Ta-Da!

Miss Marcie even came to join us! How nice of her!
As Cecilia puts it, "we like Miss Marcie!"

Pin the tail on the Easter Bunny.

Cecilia on the EB's lap...she just wanted the pinwheel I think.

This was the first time we tried posing Mir on a furry friend's lap for a photo.
As you can see by the face she didn't know what to think either.

Reassurance from Papa

There's a look!

They had a coloring station that Cecilia was all over.
She was so excited to use big girl crayons.

She did a great job! I was impressed.
A great time was had by all...the girls and I went home for naps....
...and Matt went to work. Boo.
We were so thankful to St. John's for hosting this fun event!

Shades

It has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL the last couple of days and that means walks in the stroller! We actually went on 2 walks today and the second one ended in a stay at the park. The girls love being outside and so do I! This is Florida after all.....we pulled out the shades and off we went!

Mir in her baby shades for the first time....so cute!

Hey Momma, don't forget about me!

Polish St. Patrick's Day

I am not Irish at all. Not one bit. I am almost 100% Polish. Neither is my husband; not in the slightest. He is 100% German. But for some reason I was inspired to make corned beef brisket and cabbage today. I have never done it before, and if I do say so myself it turned out quite nicely. It had a great glaze/sauce on it too. Yum.

So here is a picture of what our dinner looked like:

Corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes, and beer cheese soup. All washed down with a nice Harp.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Now if you want a Polish feast...check back after Easter...that is going to be some good eating!
And no, I am NOT making the soup :)

A Spring Day at the Park

Matt has been working for what seems like forever...I know I shouldn't complain. He has a job...but we just haven't had a lot of family time lately since he has been so busy and our weekends are only so long. It was FINALLY a warm, sunny day outside (I know waa waa waa. I live in Florida it is really cold up North) so we decided to go over to the toddler park, now affectionately known as Mountain Park (named by Matt and Cecilia for the small climbing rock there). We saw some friends while we were there and had a great time!

Cecilia in her movie star glasses. She put them on herself. I asked if they were on wrong and she said, "No, mommy. My nose goes right there." Oh, OK.

Mir all ready to go.
I had to take the picture in the mirror since her seat is flipped around.

I love everything about this toddler park because Cecilia can do it ALL herself. Well, I guess she still needs help on the climbing rock, but she does such a good job!

I did it!

Here we go again!

Insert Tarzan call here.

Man its tough being a 2 year old. But even movie stars need a snack of goldfish every now and then. Mom, can you hit me with some water please?

Whoa...Papa that was a big push!

Hey check out that guy over there on the see saw. Pretty cute....

Adorable.

Mir was very "talkative" in the swing.

This is the life.

Papa was trying to get Mir to make some noise, but it was pretty windy so you might not hear.

And Cecilia down the slide again....
